Fishing – Code of Practice 2024/25
To help ensure all visitors have a safe and enjoyable time whilst at the property please can you follow the CODE OF PRACTICE.
● Please note fishing and access to Clumber Park may have to be suspended on occasions for operational reasons and weather conditions.
● Very occasionally fishing may be restricted in some places for safety reasons due to other water based activities. These restrictions must be observed.
● All season permit holders must be current members of the National Trust.
● A limited number of season tickets are available, prebooked day tickets will be limited.to a maximum of 2 anglers per day. No day tickets are available on the bank, anyone found fishing without a ticket will be asked to leave and the relevant authorities notified.
● The footpaths around the Lake are shared with pedestrians, cyclists and dogs; rods and tackle must not obstruct footpaths. Please take due care and attention when casting your rods. No rods to be kept out of the water with baits on rigs.
● Clumber Park is a property of the National Trust and National Trust Byelaws apply. A copy of the Byelaws may be obtained from Clumber Park Office.
● Permits must be produced on request to any Fishery Bailiff or National Trust Personnel. If you cannot produce your permit on request you will be asked to leave the fishery.
● An Environment Agency Rod Fishing Licence is required, its byelaws are applicable.
● Two rods only may be used.
● Fishing is permitted from 7.15am. Please take care to be quiet when arriving and leaving the park. Anglers should not be within the Park before 7.00am and must have left the Park by the following times:

July 10.30pm
August 10.30pm
September 9.30pm
October 9.30pm
November 5.30pm
December 5.00pm
January 5.30pm
February 6.30pm
March 7.00pm
● Fishing is allowed as per the map supplied to members and detailed on the Clubmate portal. Fishing is no longer allowed in the area from the Hardwick side of the temple up to beyond the chain post.
● Cars must be parked in recognised car parks, Hardwick Village, the main visitor car park by the stable yard and Cow Pastures (June to end of October) There is no parking at the Carburton Bridge end of the lake. Please keep noise to an absolute minimum when entering or leaving the lake.
● Toilets are situated at Hardwick Village and by the main stable yard visitor car park, these must be used, no exceptions. The toilets at Hardwick will stay open until anglers are off site for the day.
● Access to the park is restricted after 4.30pm, please arrive prior to this if fishing an evening session.
● Fishing is not permitted on the dam wall/riprap. This is to enable the National Trust to fulfil its obligations under the Reservoirs Act.
● No overnight fishing or camping is allowed.
● Pike fishing is permitted from 1st October to 14th March. Deadbaiting with frozen sea fish baits is permitted. Wire traces of a minimum 50cm must be used. Fishing with artificial lures is also permitted.
● The following are not permitted:
Fires, no naked flames - high fire risk area
Keep nets
Lead Weights
Access to or fishing from any of the islands
Barbed hooks
Use of drones
Remote controlled bait boats, boats of any kind.
Wading – with the exception of dealing with caught fish
Fishing over large weed beds
Commercial Photography and Videography
Out of season pre baiting
Inappropriate behaviour
Absolutely no litter, take it home.

● We reserve the right to alter the fishing code of practice at any time should it be necessary to do so.
FAILURE TO OBSERVE ANY OF THESE RULES OR BEHAVIOUR DEEMED TO BE UNACCEPTABLE WILL RESULT IN FORFEITURE OF DAY OR SEASON PERMIT.
